San Fernando Rain Discontinuation: Cultivating our range to best support patients

Published

16 June 2026

As part of Cultiva's annual strain review, Cultiva Signature San Fernando Rain will be retired from the Cultiva range.

To support continuity of care and minimise treatment disruption, we have identified a range of transition options for affected patients. For many patients currently prescribed San Fernando Rain, Rainbow Pie has been identified as a suitable replacement strain due to its comparable cannabinoid profile, overlapping terpene composition and similar therapeutic applications.

Here's what you need to know and how to support affected patients through the transition.

Our commitment to a focused, clinically relevant range

At Nectar Brands, we believe a well-curated range is an important part of patient care. Every strain we carry should provide clear therapeutic value and support the evolving needs of patients and healthcare professionals.

All strains within the Cultiva portfolio undergo a structured 12-month review cycle. During this process, each strain is assessed against a range of factors, including therapeutic versatility, terpene profile, patient feedback and clinical applicability across common treatment plans.

Where suitable alternatives are available that can provide comparable or enhanced therapeutic benefit, we may make the decision to retire a strain and consolidate our portfolio around products with broader clinical utility.

Following this review process, San Fernando Rain will be discontinued from the Cultiva range. While the strain has delivered positive outcomes for many patients, we are confident that the recommended alternatives can continue to support patient needs while providing greater versatility across a broader range of treatment goals.

Supporting your patients through the transition

Patients currently prescribed San Fernando Rain will need to transition to an alternative strain before 31 August 2026.

We recommend beginning transition discussions early to allow enough time for:

  • Current prescriptions to be filled before the discontinuation date
  • Suitable replacement strains to be identified
  • Treatment plans to be updated where required
  • Any adjustment period to be managed with minimal disruption to ongoing care

For many patients currently prescribed San Fernando Rain, Rainbow Pie may represent the most appropriate transition pathway. Alternative recommendations are also available for patients with specific therapeutic needs or treatment goals.

Recommended transition guidance

To support healthcare professionals, we have developed a substitution guide outlining our recommended replacement strains and the clinical rationale behind each recommendation.

Recommendations have been selected based on cannabinoid profile, terpene composition, therapeutic effects and common patient use cases.
